In Norse Mythology the World Tree, Yggdrasil, is the center of the nine worlds

I am adventuring in a far away land, and my heart is no longer here nor there, materially in one place, spiritually in another - It now finds its home in cyberspace, inextricably bound to the World Tree, whereby it may remain connected to every world in which I have ever lived. Let our minds leave our private worlds, let our thoughts, ideas and experiences course freely through the roots and branches of Yggdrasil where they may be shared and united.

"An Ash I know, Yggdrasil its name,With water white
is the great tree wet; Thence come the dews
that fall in the dales, Green by Urth's well does it ever grow.
Thence come the maidens
mighty in wisdom, Three from the dwelling
down 'neath the tree; Urth is one named,
Verthandi the next,--On the wood they scored,--
and Skuld the third. Laws they made there, and life allotted
To the sons of men, and set their fates."

The Mall

I'm not even that old. . .but today I felt like it.
I decided to go to the mall today to buy some odds and ends. I walk in the doors and am immediatetly hit with the warm wafting aroma of Auntie Anne's pretzels and various incarnations of high fructose corn syrup in the forms of gummy insects. I couldn't even consider caving in and getting a tastey treat because I'm painfully aware of how sick i'd be afterward from all that sugary garbage. . .
I hear the giggly voices of bubblegum chewing teen girls, as they hang out in Claire's and Rave, sporting their push-up bras, tight jeans and lip gloss.
And the funny thing is, that in my head, i still feel and think i'm one of them. Until I saunter slowly by a mirror in the cosmetics department (damn cosmetics department) and see the tired eyes, ratty hair, and hoodie sweatshirt meant to cover up an ever pudgier midsection
But i keep walking, past Forever 21, and the cute shoe stores, and head into the GNC . . .
THE GNC, PEOPLE!!! The friggin' GNC, the vitamin/health supplement store where the OLD PEOPLE go. The one that always looked so boring as a teen, and why would anyone ever want to go in there?
So I spent some time browsing the herbs, thought i might get some ginger and fenugreek, then I picked up my probiotics and digestive enzymes . . . after debating for a few minutes over whether to buy the fruity flavored chewables, or the grown-up capsules. . . I won't tell you which i got. . .

So, Life is funny. . . actually it's Age that's funny. I think that no matter how old you actually get, you always think of yourself as being a certain age -- it's like your own archetypal image of yourself, the real you. At least, this is what I've been told by old people . . . REAL old people (not 20-30 somethings) You know it's funny how we totally classify people by age, and really what differentiates people isn't age but quantity of experience, and types of experiences. And, it's true that experience and age for the most part go hand in hand, but not always. No indeed, not always.

I can catch the rain with the bags under my eyes.

I miss my days of super tight jeans, push up bras, and lip gloss. My ass used to look SO bangin in those..

I'll bet it did =P

...I actually never wore push-up bras...just though it would sound good in there.

Um, do you have a separate website where you blog about all your happy stories?

Its pretty universally true that everyone's mental age is biologically about 10 years younger. In advertising when you want to market to 40-somethings you use images of 30-somehtings. Don't worry its not just you (never-the-less I'm sorry that your visit to the mall temporarilly shattered your mental image) Its OK, whenever you feel old just think of me.

It was the grown-up capsules, wasn't it? :)

And my mental age is about 20 years older than my biological age. Go figure. I can totally see myself in chinos, button up cotton shirts and brooks brothers glasses.

(oh wait, I already wear that stuff.)

Hope things are going well for ya, it's still winter in Cali but spring is in the air...

Hey tasik,

first of all, what does "tasik" mean? and second of all does your name begin with an "E" and end with "van"?
